Women’s arm wrestling competition to benefit Welcome Baby
Posted on 09.22.2015, Tuesday

imageOn Saturday, October 3rd, our friends at Welcome Baby will be the beneficiary of an event hosted by the League of Upper Extremity Wrestling Women of Durham (LUEWWD). The knock-down, drag-out arm wrestling competition will take place at Triangle Brewing Company (918 Pearl Street) at 9:00pm (doors open at 8pm). All the proceeds from ticket sales, donations and bribing the judges will go to their Cribs for Kids program, which provides pack ‘n plays to Durham families in need of a safe place for babies to sleep and shares safe sleep strategies. You can make general donations that will be counted toward the total funds raised, or you may “vote” with your dollars for a specific contestant – including Cribs for Kids Coordinator Cindy Riley a.k.a. Ms. Crib Crusher!

LUEWWD strives to improve opportunities for women and girls through hosting creative community-based women’s arm wrestling competitions to raise funds for organizations supporting women and girls in Durham. It has raised more than $60,000 to date!

Welcome Baby is a program of Durham County Cooperative Extension and is partially funded by the Partnership through Smart Start. Welcome Baby provides parenting education and support to families with young children, and services are available for free to all Durham County residents with newborns and children to age 5.

*LUEWWD loves kids! Welcome Baby loves kids! But this event is not for kids, so leave the little ones at home on Oct. 3rd.
