If your child will be 5 on or before August 31, 2017, it’s time to get ready for kindergarten!
Durham Public Schools is hosting its annual Welcome to Kindergarten Information Night this Thursday, January 12th from 5:30-7:30 pm at Riverside High School (3218 Rose of Sharon Road). Parents, please come and learn everything you need to know about entering kindergarten in Durham Public Schools, including what magnet options are available, how to register, and how to get ready for kindergarten.
Kindergarten registration will begin March 1, 2017, and we are looking forward to hosting our 3rd Annual Kindergarten Registration Week March 25-30, 2017, a key part of our Transition to Kindergarten (TTK) Initiative.
The transition to kindergarten is one of the most significant events in a young child’s life. It sets the tone for his or her entire educational experience and lays the foundation for future success in school. A smooth transition to kindergarten is a shared responsibility among many individuals and institutions, and the TTK Initiative, a collaboration between Durham Public Schools and the Partnership, builds connections that prepare parents, children, and schools for a successful transition to kindergarten. It is our goal that all children in Durham will enter kindergarten feeling excited, ready to learn, and supported by their schools, families and community!
Please visit www.DurhamGoestoKindergarten.com for more information and resources, and please keep an eye on this blog in the upcoming weeks for information about how to volunteer during Kindergarten Registration Week.
