Read for the Record this Thursday!
Posted on 10.24.2016, Monday

Thursday, October 27th is Jumpstart’s Read for the Record® day! This national campaign was launched more than a decade ago to address the educational inequities that leave too many children unprepared for kindergarten. This Thursday, children and adults will gather to learn, laugh and read this year’s campaign book, The Bear Ate Your Sandwich by Julia Sarcone-Roach, as part of the world’s largest shared reading experience. Read for the Record inspires adults to read with children, spurs policymakers and organizations to take action towards transformative change in early education, and puts books in the hands of more children across the country.

Our friends at Book Harvest are participating in Read for the Record by partnering with many local agencies, including the Office of the Mayor, Durham Public Schools, Durham Police Department, Durham Housing Authority, and Durham County Library, to send dozens of volunteers throughout Durham to read with children. To learn more about where they will be reading on Thursday and how to get involved, visit www.bookharvestnc.org and check out this article in the Herald-Sun.
