Kindergarten Registration Week is almost here!
Posted on 03.16.2016, Wednesday

Durham’s 2nd Annual Kindergarten Registration Week starts in just 3 days, and we need your help! We still have a few volunteer shifts throughout the week, so please sign up to support Durham’s young learners.

Kindergarten Registration Week, a collaboration between the Partnership and Durham Public Schools, begins on March 19th and ends with aKindergarten Registration Celebration on March 24th. This focused week offers all sectors of the community an opportunity to be involved in the important work of preparing children for school, starting with the critical first step: an easy and early enrollment.

As we finish up our preparations for this community-wide event, we want to thank some of our partners in this effort. For the second year in a row, First Pages, a Durham nonprofit that works to improve literacy and school readiness among children birth-5, has generously donated 350 children’s books to be distributed throughout the week. We’d also like to thank the wonderful local businesses and agencies that are participating in Kindergarten Registration Week: Compare Foods, Durham County Department of Public Health, Durham County Library, Durham Housing Authority, Durham Parks and Recreation, Duke Pediatrics, East Durham Children’s Initiative, Families Moving Forward, Kroger, La Superior, Lincoln Community Health Center, Northgate Mall, Notasium, Walmart, and the YMCA. Kindergarten registration packets and resources will also be distributed to a large number of child care centers and DPS classrooms.

School readiness is everybody’s business, and we need everyone’s help – from businesses, to schools, volunteers – to make sure all children in Durham enter school ready to succeed.

Please support Durham’s rising kindergartners by volunteering to help reach families during Kindergarten Registration Week. Sign up today!
