Tomorow commemorates the annual Juneteenth celebration. Juneteenth is short for June 19th 1865 when the Emancipation Proclamation was fulfilled after it had been signed 2 years prior. On this day Federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas to ensure the last enslaved people were finally free. While Juneteenth has been celebrated since its inception, as of June 15th 2021 Juneteenth is now the 12th Federally recognized Holiday in the Unites States. Under legislation the holiday is recognized as Juneteenth National Independence Day.
