Happy Fall! Let’s Celebrate TACO week!
Posted on 09.24.2021, Friday

Fall is officially here! A season of comfort foods, daylight savings and preparing to spend the holidays with family & friends. These times can offer an opportunity to create beautiful memories with your children that they will cherish forever. Autumn also known as Fall occurs September 22nd – December 21st and serves as the transition between Summer and Winter. While traditionally most kids love Summer, Fall can be an amazing time as well! Now is the opportunity to encourage literacy by reading books about the Autumn season as well as encourage outdoor play! Today kicks off TACO Week (Take A Child Outside Week) September 24 – 30, designed to encourage children to explore nature with outdoor play! Durham’s Partnership for Children encourages parents and child care sites to get children outside this week and explore nature! This week is a great opportunity to empower your children to stay physically active during a season where people tend to become more lethargic. Physical activity and outdoor play doesn’t have to stop because the seasons change, it should be an opportunity to allow children to connect and get creative with nature!
