Day 5: support Durham’s most vulnerable children
Posted on 12.06.2016, Tuesday

Through Durham Early Head Start (DEHS), the Partnership collaborates with community partners to serve the most vulnerable children and families. DEHS is a federally-funded child development and support program for low-income expectant mothers and families with infants and toddlers ages birth to three.

Families participate through two program models: intensive home visiting and full day high-quality center-based child care. Currently, DEHS serves 120 children through center-based care and 36 children through home visiting, for a total enrollment of 156.

All families receive high-quality comprehensive services, including health, dental, and nutrition aid, parent education, mental health screenings, and early intervention. As one parent explained:

“This program has changed our lives. Being in the program provides our family with confidence and knowledge that the kids are reaching their milestones and learning.”

Last year, 100% of children in DEHS showed growth across all domains of school readiness.

Please make a gift to the Partnership today to help support Durham’s most vulnerable children and families. And today is another BIG GIVE DAY, so when you donate today you’ll have a chance to win a one night stay at the Franklin Hotel in Chapel Hill and two tickets from Carolina Performing Arts. Give big and win big!
