When raising a child, we look forward to hitting various milestones. One of those milestones parents focus om is when to brush teeth? How do we build healthy relationships with our children and their dental health? February is National Children’s Dental Health Month, as many of you may be parents of children 0-5 it is important to establish healthy dental habits early! Like any other healthy behavior, reptation is key to instilling that habit for your child. The saying goes “Kids soak things up like a sponge”, children tend to repeat everything they see us do! Leading by example is beneficial, children typically want to mimic what mommy and daddy do. If a child sees you brushing your teeth, the task may not seem as challenging for them. It’s okay to make brushing your teeth fun! Singing your child’s favorite song to pass the 2-minute recommended brushing time more enjoyable! My child enjoys watching her favorite character sing about brushing their teeth, this makes her want to do the same. While we know establishing routines for healthy dental habits may be a challenge, we encourage you to continue to try innovative ways to explore dental health with your little one!
