Childcare Centers are Essential Too!
There are 98,000+ children in Durham County North Carolina, 36% of those children are under the age of six according to NC Child. Statistics show roughly 45% of children in Durham County are living in low-income homes. The Partnership serves as a liaison between families and childcare centers. During this time essential workers are still asked to work and put their lives on the line daily. Thankfully, those in need of childcare in Durham County, can access services. There are childcare canters open and continuing to serve our community in a safe and impactful way. Currently, there are 7 of The Partnership’s childcare centers that are still providing services for families and more expected to open in weeks to come. While this is a tumultuous time for the nation, we would like to Thank our Childcare providers who are serving families who do essential work. No, they are not nurses, first responders, or police officers, however, they enable those with young children to go out every day and perform their essential work and this makes them essential as well!
In lieu of COVID- 19 and the impact that it has had on Early Childcare in North Carolina please show your support and voice the importance of continuing funding to support these programs to our legislature.
