Today is Arbor Day! What is Arbor Day you may ask? Arbor translated from its Latin origin meaning “Tree” Day, is observed on April 30th, 2021. The 1st recorded Arbor Day in America was in Nebraska City, NE on April 10, 1872. Arbor Day is a day where people are encouraged to celebrate by observing trees and their beauty, planting trees, and appreciating trees and their importance to our everyday lives. Trees are not only beautiful to look at, but they also have many integral reasons for their existence like providing us with Oxygen and providing homes for wildlife. Today we encourage you to get outside with your children and observe Arbor Day by going for a stroll at your local Arboretum, planting a tree, or having a family meal under a tree in your yard or community park. We have provided you with a list of local Arboretums you can enjoy with your children as well as educational links to teach your family more about Arbor Day!
