July is a special month as we celebrate Disability Pride Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the diverse abilities and talents of individuals with disabilities. At Durham’s Partnership for Children, we firmly believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. We are committed to supporting children with varying abilities through early childhood early intervention support, providing comprehensive accommodations and necessary therapy to empower them on their unique journey.
Early Childhood Disability Intervention:
Early childhood is a critical time for a child’s development, and it is during this period that intervention can make a significant difference in a child’s life. Durham’s Partnership for Children recognizes the importance of early intervention in supporting children with disabilities and their families. Our comprehensive approach aims to identify and address developmental delays and disabilities at the earliest possible stage, ensuring that children receive the support they need to succeed.
Comprehensive Accommodations:
We understand that each child is unique and has individual needs. Our team of dedicated professionals works closely with families and early childhood educators to provide comprehensive accommodations tailored to the child’s specific challenges. By creating inclusive environments and implementing accommodations such as assistive technology, modified curriculum, and accessible facilities, we aim to foster an inclusive and supportive atmosphere where every child can thrive.
Therapy Services:
Therapy plays a crucial role in helping children with disabilities overcome challenges and reach their developmental milestones. Durham’s Partnership for Children offers a range of therapy services, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and behavioral therapy. Our skilled therapists collaborate with families and early childhood educators to develop personalized intervention plans, ensuring that each child receives the therapy that best meets their needs.
Support for Families:
We recognize that families play an integral role in a child’s development and well-being. Durham’s Partnership for Children is committed to providing support and resources to families of children with disabilities. We offer parent education programs, support groups, and access to community resources to empower families in their journey of raising children with disabilities. Our aim is to create a network of support that helps families navigate challenges and celebrate their children’s achievements.
Resources:
To ensure every child in Durham enters school ready to succeed, we lead community strategies for children birth to age 5 and their families that promote healthy development and learning and enhance access to high-quality care.
