About the More at Four Pre-K Program
Durham County’s More at Four Pre-Kindergarten program is working to provide high quality early educational experiences for 4-year-olds who are not attending preschool for various reasons. The program is community-based, voluntary, and designed to prepare 4-year-olds for kindergarten. The program follows the Durham Public School calendar and runs 6.5 hours a day, 180 days a year.
Durham’s Partnership for Children administers the program in Durham County, and works in collaboration with the early childhood professionals, Durham Public Schools, Operation Breakthrough Head Start, Child Care Services Association and Durham Alliance for Child Care Access. The More at Four program operates in private class rooms, Durham Public Schools, and Head Start. There are more than 25 class rooms across Durham County with smaller class sizes to prepare children for kindergarten.
Your child might qualify to participate in 2010-2011 Durham County More at Four Program if:
• Your child is not currently enrolled in a preschool program
• Your child turns 4 years by Aug. 31, 2010
• Your child has health concerns or special needs
• Your family qualifies for financial assistance
