The NC Pre-K 2015-2016 school year is off to a great start! On August 18th, NC Pre-K directors and teachers attended a full day training hosted by the Partnership at White Rock Child Development Center. White Rock is a 5-star, NCAEYC Accredited NC Pre-K site. Attendees received incentive bags and had an opportunity to win early childhood education classroom materials, all of which was donated by Crystal Hewett-Craft of Lakeshore Learning.
The day consisted of group activities focused on the NC Pre-K requirements and common expectations held by families, children and educators. Aviva Starr, EChO Program Manager, provided additional presentations on Toxic Stress and Buffering Children from Toxic Stress. The day concluded with an interactive presentation by Teaching Artist from Carolina Ballet on their Moving Bodies Learning Minds Pre-K Creative Movement Curriculum.
The NC Pre-K program is extremely excited to have the opportunity to collaborate with the Carolina Ballet during this school year! The Moving Bodies Learning Minds Pre-K Creative Movement Curriculum is funded by the PNC Foundation’s Grow Up Great early childhood initiative. This program will be implemented in four of our NC Pre-K classrooms.
Overall, both NC Pre-K educators and administrators indicated the training was “fun, informative, and helped to ease the start of school anxieties.”
